New York-based photographer Sebastian Cortes’ exhibition launch last Thursday at The Folly, gave us an interesting insight into the lives of the Bohra Islamic community that resides in a quaint town called Sidhpur, Gujarat. The natural and domestic environment that they are used to, contrasting with their current lives, formed the theme of his Sidhpur — Time Present and Past. Gayathri Sriram and photographer Nandini Muthiah were spotted at the packed event.
After their first store launch in Kochi last April and Pondicherry in November, Linen Trail comes to Chennai with its exclusive menswear. The collection was launched at Chamiers’ new men’s section. The much awaited InterContinental Chennai on the ECR had a formal launch last Friday, where the hospitality giant’s top brass were in attendance. GM Vijai Singh is already a hit with Chennai’s party people, what with the hotel having hosted quite a few soirees in the last two months. Bespoke experiences are being promised as well – like the culinary showcase on the beach with waves tickling diners’ toes.
The Park Pongal Walk
This is no ‘after dark’ event, but we had to mention The Park’s Pongal Walk, which made waves on social media. Not only did they treat regulars to quinoa, hazelnut and maple syrup pongal, but they organised a harvest get-together at Nyayir Village near Red Hills. Guests cooked pongal, drew kolams, painted bull horns and clambered on to a bullock cart! The second such on-site experience and there’s more to come.
