EIC takes on Tiger Shroff, Donald Trump, Arnab Goswami and more on its tour of the country

East India Comedy, to quote Wikipedia , “claims to be India’s busiest comedy company”. They are certainly taking this claim seriously as they take to the road with their new show The EIC All Stars Tour. The tour, which has already covered Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune, visits the garden city this weekend. “We love doing live comedy. We have a big fan base online, so now all the people who’ve been watching us on their laptops can come catch us live,” says comedian Sapan Verma who is the co-founder of EIC. The two-and-a-half-hour-long show boasts fresh content.” Verma says shows like these take three to four months to write. “We wri te every day, then rehearse, and later try it at smaller venues with audiences of 30 to 40 people. And slowly the show builds up towards the final product,” he explains. Verma, along with fellow comedians Sorabh Pant , Sahi l Shah, Az e e m Banatwalla, Atul Khatri, Angad Singh Ranyal and Kunal Rao, started the group back in 2012. The troop gathered a fan following after their videos went viral, especially the one about the untouchable topic of sex education in India. The shows so far have been a resounding success with the group invariably receiving standing ovations. The tour winds up with an international show in Singapore. “After that, we’ve got some sketches and videos planned for the next year,” concludes Verma. `1,399.
