The runway clears for little models at The India Kids Fashion Show
Back for their fifth season, The India’s Kids Fashion Show (IKFS) heads to Bangalore this time around, showcasing fashion and products for everyone from toddlers to teens. Founder Vinod Sharma says the idea was born in London while working for the London Kid’s Fashion Week. Interacting with high-end kids’ designers, he was inspired to bring the concept to India. “I wanted to provide a platform for good designers to showcase their designs and collections in India and create awareness of these brands. And also provide a platform for kids to show off their confidence,” begins Sharma. After gaining a firm foothold, with credible partners and associates and finding the right mediums to showcase the brands, he is looking for confident kids who suit the collection.
This year, IKFS joins forces with Divas & Dudes, the exclusive kids’ salon and lounge for kids, who will play host to a Little Diva and Dude personality pageant. “We have met the most amazing kids and found so many sparkling qualities in them and are awed at how confident and poised some of our little clients are,” discloses Anu Basavaraj, the brain behind the salon.
Ramps and rompers
Wanting to cater to confident kids who use the right body language and voice modulation on and off the ramp, the pageant, judged by the mums themselves, requires the kids to attend the etiquette, grooming, voice modulation and runway workshops to get through the qualifying rounds. “We are not organizing a beauty pageant. This is a personality pageant where kids are taught to be confident. We judge them based on their confidence and articulation,” explains Basavaraj.
Look out for national and international names like Paul Smith Jr, Swiss brand Milou, Swedish brand Lila & Lala and premium design houses like Bumble Bee and Faye. There will also be a shopping carnival at the venue. Powered by Kids in Style and partnering with sponsors like Ritz Carlton and Wonder La, they aim to have their best show yet, hoping to take the event to more cities and children soon.
