Love may be in the air on February 14, but a burst of adrenaline will infuse the streets of Pondicherry this V-day. The usually tranquil roads will shift into high gear as 150 cars zip across the city, hunting for clues and lesser-known spots of tourist interest.
Get ready to test your Pondy know-how at ‘Adventure Pondicherry’, a fun car rally organised by the Rotary Club of Pondicherry Port. This is the first edition of the contest, though similar rallies have been held in the past exclusively for Rotary members.
Participants will have to solve clues to race to 12 spots, covering a 50-kilometre radius in not less than two, but within two-and-a-half hours. The event, which is also a fund-raiser for the club’s projects, is supported by the Hotels Association of Pondicherry and the Department of Tourism, who are keen to attract contestants from not only Chennai and Bengaluru but also tier-two cities in Tamil Nadu. “Not many tourists venture off the beaten track, so this is a good opportunity for people to explore lesser-known spots around Pondicherry and Auroville,” says Antony Prosper Anand, treasurer of the club.
Prizes worth `2 lakh include cash, gift vouchers and 2N/3D stays in hotels in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. A duo—of driver and navigator—can register for `2,000 (inclusive of breakfast and lunch). The rally flags off at New Port and winds up at Aroma Gardens.
Registration closes on February 10 at eventjini.com/adventurepondicherry. Details: email@example.com
