The city’s first dog creche that takes great care of your precious pup
Canine behaviorist, Sindhoor Pangal started Bengaluru’s first ever ‘puppy creche’ called Nishi’s just a week ago, as the answer to all your pooch worries.
“Apart from keeping them occupied through the day, I also teach them how to be alone,” says Pangal. “It’s something that most working pet parents always have a problem with.” It was quite a shocker to find out that when Pangal didn’t have a safe space to leave her own boxer Nishi (who the crèche is named after), she up and quit her job! “My parents didn’t understand why I would leave a high paying job at Yahoo! for a dog!,” she recalls. But four years of doggie research and one certified canine behaviourist degree later, it looks like they have finally settled down to the fact that this is Pangal’s passion. Along the way, she even set up a Facebook forum for dog lovers (Bombat Dawgz) that presently has a thriving 2,000 plus members.
Now that the 34-year-old is going to have even more on her plate with an in-house crèche, she’s gotten herself a nanny to help with the kids (with tails that is). And the first person (okay mammal) that Sindhoor thought of was her beloved Nishi. “I’ve watched Nishi nudge our fostered pups in the past to come out from behind the sofa, or not to nip. It’s amazing how much impact a trained dog can have in mentoring puppies over a human being.” The fee for a puppy (under six months) is `5,000 for a month. Training sessions on request will be charged separately.
