A perfect one-stop shop for all things fun and whimsical
The team at lilbluvan.com, the latest webstore to arrive on the online shopping scene in India, calls itself ‘the curators of quirk’. Started by the Mumbai-based couple, Reilly Rebello and Melissande, the site offers a variety of products ranging from home decor and stationery to accessories for women, all featuring offbeat designs. On asking about the inspiration behind this venture, Reilly says, “It’s not easy to find something suitable if you’re looking for a special home decor piece or gifting idea. Even online stores cannot always guarantee the quality you’d want. We felt this space had much more scope and decided to do something fun!” The team personally picks out and curates the works of artists from all over India and showcases them on the site. “While some of the artists may have a team to work with, others prefer working solo,” says Reilly. His plans for the seven-month-old site include reaching out to more people and boosting its popularity, making it one of the first options to come to mind for off-the-wall products.
Take a look at the site and you will find everyday products like fridge magnets, paper clips and USB drives in funky avatars along with notebooks, wallets and bags. Their cushions, table lamps and assorted home decor items can give a zany twist to your rooms. “I shopped at Lilbluvan and bought some chai glasses. I enjoyed their quirky email interactions as well. They are quite a hoot and the chai glasses are always a conversation starter,” gushes one of Lilbluvan’s customers.
Adding to the X factor, they have a category of hand-painted products that are a perfect blend of tradition and quirk. The stoles, kurtas and saris are the show-stealers among them. With simple designs and traditional motifs, they are sure to appeal to those looking for something singular and distinct.
