takes on a trendy Western format
On a rainy and windy evening, when Chinese take-away and pizzas just don’t compare to home food, Hello Curry was just what we needed. A charming attempt to create a reliable delivery brand for Indian cuisine, they operate in the ‘delivery only’ space, catering to the demand for quick, affordable and every day food. Sandeep Penumatsa,
the co-founder and chief marketing operator (alongside Raju Bhupathi) says that they started Hello Curry, first in Hyderabad and as of last week, in the city, to bridge the gap in the market. Penumatsa elaborates that the highlights of their service include a 30-minute delivery guarantee and freshly cooked food. “How we work around the 30-minute guarantee is by bringing Western efficiencies into Indian food making, thus keeping the Indian taste intact
while there are efficient processes being practiced to work swiftly and freshly within 2-3 minutes.”
We can vouch for the pulavs and biryani, which come in hinged takeaway boxes, making it easy to manoeuvre even at an office desk. “The entire value chain right from order aggregation to food production to last mile delivery is controlled by Hello Curry and food safety standards are practiced at every level,” explains Penumatsa
We also tried the jalfrezi chicken (chicken in a tomato and onion gravy) and the chicken tikka, and both arrived in a plastic lined jar, which didn’t wilt despite the oil and gravy. Vegetarians will love the soft paneer pops and the crispy baby corn which surprisingly retains the crunch. Other meat and veggie options are also available, as are delicious parathas (Malabar or wheat), rolls and desserts such as khubai ka meetha. What particularly interested us were add-ons. You can choose to add on vegetables, and they’ll load it on in such a way that you simply have to mix it with the rest of the food, and get your daily dose of greens.
They will soon begin their first phase of expansion to Whitefield, Koramangala, HSR Layout, Sarjapur, Marathahalli, Kammana halli and Domlur.
