A look at other sedans that are contending with Nissan

AS the Nissan Sunny makes another attempt to break into the already burgeoning mid-size sedan segment at a seemingly attractive price point, some manufacturers
have already got similar offerings in place. Here are the top three:

    Hyundai Verna 4S
The Verna 4S distinguishes itself from the outgoing model with new design tail lights and some minor changes to the rear bumper. There are three engine options – a 1.6-litre petrol, and a 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel. A new 2017 model is on the cards too – with the option of some mild hybrid technology. `8.02 lakh (ex- Chennai). Details: hyundai.com/in

    Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
The Ciaz is the first car in this segment to have offered mild hybrid technology as a powertrain option, namely the Smart Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS). While the current engine options include a 1.2-litre diesel (with and without SHVS) and a 1.4-litre petrol, a 1.6-litre option is expected to be added with the facelift, due for a mid- 2017 launch. `8.13 lakh (ex-Chennai). Volkswagen Vento
This sedan was most recently updated in early 2016, with Volkswagen sprucing up the cabin with a touchscreen infotainment system with MirrorLink connectivity, phone book/SMS viewer, auto dimming IRVM, and rain-sensing wipers. It comes powered by a 1.2-litre and a 1.6- litre petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel mill. `8.27 lakh (ex-Chennai). Details: volkswagen.co.in
