Ahead of the Dusk to Dawn marathon, here’s what to pick up to ensure you stand out in the crowd.

Many marathoners who’ve been doing their 10Ks in the day, are now signing up for the second edition of the Dusk to Dawn Chennai Night Marathon. This switch in routine is good: reports claim running at night betters strength and reaction time, lung function and, yes, even sleep. “But night running can also be difficult because you are tired from your day’s activities. So I’d recommend you rest, eat well (carbohydrate-rich) and hydrate yourself, as the humidity will be higher,” says organiser Neville Bilimoria. And while fitness is key, what you wear counts, too. Night runs need reflective gear, and we have a handy guide on what to pick up. Grab the last few bibs on Sunday, 9 am-5 pm, at Grand by GRT. Rs 950. The D2D marathon (3K, 5K, 10K, 21K) will kick off at 10 pm on June 11, at Island Grounds. Details: d2dchennaimarathon.com
