Chennai Fashion Week returns with 10 designers and an opener by Studio 9696
The city has witnessed a Chennai International Fashion Week and a Madras Couture Fashion Week too. Joining their ranks is the first edition of the Chennai Fashion Week (CFW) that starts tomorrow. Organised by the Designers Council of India in association with Brand Avatar, the fashion week promises to showcase the collections of upcoming designers, both from and outside the city. And Miss India International 2012, Rochelle Rao, happens to be the face of CFW and was spotted wearing a peach, stone-embellished Ritu Kumar anarkali at the press conference, earlier this week. The Mumbai-based Kumar is also part of the line-up, showcasing her Autumn Winter 2015 collection. “It feels good to be associated with the Chennai Fashion Week as the fashion taste of the city matches my designs,” she says.
City-based Studio 9696 designer duo, Ekta Nihar and Sandeep Ravi’s bespoke fashion studio, are the show openers. “We are showcasing a bridal line that’s quirked up with net and lace patches on silk, georgette and chiffon,” Ravi shares about their collection. CFW is also showcasing Hyderabad’s Santhosh Kumar and international designers, Indrajith and Mathusha from Sri Lanka. The grand finale is by Mumbai-based designer Sarath Krishnan who is also bringing down his collection of indo-western bridal outfits, with TV actor Jay Bhanushali as the showstopper.
