Metallic drapes, black and white accents and other big trends at LFW Summer Resort 2014
The It’s a showing that makes sense well beyond the summer break, which is why all eyes were on Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer Resort 2014. Besides ultra feminine silhouettes, a modern Manish Malhotra, pastels and sorbet colours and Rajesh Pratap’s avant garde line where steel marries silk, there was also something for men who like to dress like the girls. Ujjawal Dubey’s cotton and chambray dhotis are a must buy, and he’s the Gen Next designer one ought to watch. As for the accessories, the brief was ‘bold and experimental’.

Another big trend is the crop top. From Anita Dongre to Payal Singhal, Klitche and Shruti Sancheti, navel-baring blouses, tees and jackets were paired with skirts, pants, or even dressy lehengas. Given that the midi-skirt is making a comeback, these tops are a keeper. Most of the collections will be available in a few weeks, and Anita Dongre’s is priced at Rs. 11,000 onwards.
