Vishwanathan (Kamal Haasan), a Kathak dance trainer in New York, is married to Nirupama, a nuclear oncologist. She moves in with Lucy but is troubled by unpleasant memories of her abuse and as a result,has become paranoid about being tracked down. The movie was shot in over 20 days.

Picking up from where Singam ended, Duraisingam (Suriya) has gone undercover and is working as an NCC officer in a school in Thoothukudi to keep a check on the area. He finds out that instead of arms and ammunition, drugs are being smuggled in huge quantities. A foreigner is involved in the drug peddlers’ gang. The movie completed 100 days, grossing around Rs 230 crores at the box office.
