Finding an excuse for a new wardrobe just got easier. Delhi-based Jyoti Sharma’s label, Bhanuni, is being showcased in the city by the designer herself. Known for her craftsmanship, clean cuts and intricate embroidery, she has been celebrated at Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week. On October 16, you can choose from her festive and A/W line. “I will be bringing my festive couture line where I have used 3D embroidery, surface ornamentation and cut work,” she offers.
What to expect
Sharma will present around 100 pieces, including her drape saris (that can be worn like a skirt), bridal and cocktail lehengas, and saris with Swarovski, embroidery and cut work. Her collection is inspired by Mughal art work and comes in festive colours like royal blue, green and red. But she has made sure that there is something for everyone. “There are options for festive (in chandheri silk) and evening wear. There is another prêt line in georgette, mesh, chiffon and net with tunics which can work for casual wear as well.” Not to be missed is her bridal line. “There is a raw silk lehenga with zardozi embroidery and cut work embellished with crystals. I have also used floral art work,” she shares, naming favourites.
Sharma who has been retailing with Collage for the past five years, is excited about her first visit to the city. “The feedback for my previous lines has been great. They love my tunics and embroidery. So I wanted to bring something new, like flared tunics. These are georgette pieces which come with a yoke and have layering. Also expect draped outfits. I am looking forward to my clients’ reaction to my line,” chuckles the designer who worked with Suneet Varma before starting her own label. “I learnt everything from him, design, craftsmanship, embroidery and commercial aspects of starting a label,” she reveals. Talking about her label (which means ‘a charming woman’ in Hindi), she tells us it targets women aged between 25 and 40 who love partying and the festive season.
Sharma will be consulting with her clients and taking orders on October 16 at 11 am at Collage. Her collection is priced from Rs 15,000 onwards. Details: 28291443
