Fashion designer Jyoti Sachdev Iyer might have moved to Kolkata, but her connection with the ooru remains strong. Her latest collection — Cosmosis, which is a combination of the universe, and the osmosis of light and shade — resonates deeply with the aesthetic sense of Bengaluru’s fashionistas. Comprising flattering cape dresses, and chic mod off-shoulder gowns, the collection, the designer says, “is extremely soft and romantic; it’s something I haven’t done in a long time. I always focused on the stronger side of a woman but this time I’ve concentrated on the softer feel, and played around with pastels with a touch of bright colours.”
Dauntless yet elegant, this collection is for women who love to embrace their feminine side with confidence. A marriage of weaves and pure fabrics makes this collection rather exquisite. The best of Chanderis, knits and georgettes make the collection rich and trendy.
“It is a culmination of three to four different kinds of fabrics such as soft mul and slub Chanderi, which is the rawest form of Chanderi. Since summer is right around the corner, these fabrics are perfect because they are soft, and drape beautifully,” she says.
Iyer loves to experiment with long, opulent silhouettes, and a conspicuous colour palette by using shades of blue, soft pinks and earthy browns where she symbolises the elements of the universe while merging it with her artistry. She says, “Cosmosis is a marriage of polished silhouettes and strong colours, bringing together the idea of cosmic aesthetic.”
