The new race-inspired livery and quicker transmission makes this SR 150 variant Rs 2,000 dearer than the standard scooter
The new ‘Race Edition’ of the Aprilia SR 150 scooter comes with bold grey, ‘Fluo Rosso’ red and green livery inspired from the Italian bike maker’s MotoGP bike, the RS-GP. Dashes of red on the 14-inch wheels and springs along with gold on the front caliper makes the scooter look even more striking. The updates on this special variant aren’t just cosmetic, though. Aprilia has also changed the gearing on the CVT transmission to make the scooter quicker than the regular version. The engine, however, is the same 154.8 cc, 3-valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder unit producing peak power at 10.4 bhp and a maximum torque of 11.4 Nm.
Commenting on the launch, Stefano Pelle, managing director and CEO – Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited said via a press release, “The great response we got when we introduced the SR150 in India last year gave us the confidence that the market is now ripe for change. The youth of India are keen to explore the new and this augurs well for a brand like ours which thrives on building different categories in every market that we operate in. We hope that the SR150 Race brings our patrons even closer to the racy appeal they long for in their daily rides and changes, yet again, the way India purchases its two-wheelers.”
