    Food8FullPage1The health route
Specialising in fresh, organic vegetarian fare, The Yogisthaan Cafe is highly rated by parents in the city. “We love the large no-shoe area, perfect for when our son was crawling. Now that he’s walking, we can relax while he runs around playing, and being taken on expeditions to the kitchen by the friendly staff,” says mother Venetia Kotamraju. “Of course, the freshly cooked healthy food is perfect nutrition for little ones,” she elaborates. Menu highlights include a delicious quinoa burger that is served with homemade hummus, and an incredible variety of fresh juices. The kids we were with loved the brightly coloured ‘Booster Juice’ that combines carrot, beetroot,  coriander and fresh ginger. Rs. 1,000, approximately, for two. Details: 40914888

    Eye level
Malleswaram-based Sattvam has long been famed for its family-friendly vibe, but they were recently forced to close their soft play area because it posed logistical and hygiene issues. They still offer some of the best children’s food in town, and haven’t lost their edge as a great place to eat out with youngsters. The buffet menu includes grilled vegetable burgers, hummus with pita bread and assorted quiches in child-friendly portions. “That section of the buffet is also at a lower height, so children can choose themselves,” explains owner Arvind Chowdhary. Dipping fruit, chocolate brownies and marshmallows into the chocolate fountain is also a lovely end-of-meal treat. Buffet Rs. 330 ++ for children. Details: 23340963

At Bistro Claytopia, patrons can embellish their own crockery while enjoying the all-day dining menu, which is largely continental and includes salads, generous sandwiches and pastas that are served with a range of freshly made sauces. “It’s a great way for parents and children to spend quality time together,” explains co-founder Kavitha Nambiar. Guests can choose to sit under the shade of an expansive tree in the informally laid out al fresco dining area, or head to the indoor space, which can also be customised for birthday parties.
