    From paper making to a shibori workshop, this week is all about learning new crafts

    Indigo experts, The Colors of Nature, is holding a shibori and tie and dye workshop for adults. Give that old kurta, T-shirt or stole a colourful makeover by dipping them in a tank filled with indigo, to make different designs on the textile. Today and tomorrow, from 10 am

    Experience a fire and light spinning performance, And There Was Light, by 10 Auroville teenagers. The performance blends science, myth, theory and evolution, with a story that revolves around the creation of the universe and how it is now the time of man.     Pink parade
    Pondicherry-based Bogna Grazyna Jaroslawski, a Polish-German artist, has designed an art installation, Pink Silence, which is trying to create awarenes2s about violence against women and children. The installation consists of 365 pink bamboo rods, each with a quote written on it by students from the Bamboo Centre, suggesting a solution. Inspired by the Gulabi Gang movement, the installation is at the Unity Pavilion. Till January 31, from 9 am onwards. Details: 9159153912

    Paper cut
    Experts in handmade paper since 1998, Auroville Papers is conducting a workshop on paper making. Apart from the popular stationery, they will teach you to make household products, jewellery and even works of art from paper and cotton mache. All the materials will be provided.     Food for thought
    Lilaloka, the self-learning and resource centre for children, is holding a fund-raising lunch, tomorrow. Proceeds go towards the completion of their first office building.     Shake a leg
    After opening her new store recently, Icelander designer Disa Gudmundsdottir has now opened the doors of her new cafe, DisDis & Co at Rue Romain Rolland street. The cafe is hosting a party, tomorrow till 1 am. Expect to catch Pondicherry-based DJs like Kid Creme and The Sleepwalker, who will be performing with Paris-based Alexander Robotnick, one of the key people behind the disco movement.  At the cafe, from 8 pm onwards.
