With Christmas Day fast approaching, there’s no dearth of festive bazaars to head to. But this weekend comes a market with a difference. The Silver Xmas Bazaar by the Silver Surfers Club that will see 20 stalls set up entirely by senior citizens. “The Silver Surfers Club was started by me to empower those over 60 years of age.
The club allows members to pursue their entrepreneurial interests and sharpen their skills,” sha r e s Di p t i Va rma Narain. Having launched back in 2014, the club hosts bazaars, wine tasting sessions and group getaways for its members. This time around, the market will also have food trucks serving burgers, waffles and more.On offer Stop by the Klay Karma stall for pots and garden essentials made with clay.
Choose from a wide range of Christmas-themed kitchen towels, oven mitts and table linen at Usha Ramnath’s stall. Martha’s Preserves by Martha Kohlhagen will have you spoilt for choice with jars of lemon curd, chocolate fudge sauce, caramel sauce and chilli salsa. Sourced from Jaipur, Usha Varma’s curated collection of rugs and carpets bear Aztecinspired details. For handmade lotions and creams, make your way to Nina Desai’s stall, Merak. While this is one of the last events of the year for the club, Varma is already looking forward to the next calendar year. “In 2017, we’re hoping to launch an e-commerce site for our senior entrepreneurs,” Varma signs off.
