Not every end is the goal. The end of a melody is not its goal, and yet if a melody has not reached its end, it has not reached its goal.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (German philosopher and scholar, 1844-1900)
If you are looking for an explantion for that quote, let’s just say the word ‘goal’ attracted me. However, the word ‘melody’ is also doing the rounds on the frequency. Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM has decided to give listeners a pleasant start to their day with a show called Marina Melodies. I caught up with Ajai Titus, the host of the show, to find out more.
Why the change to only melodies?
Melodic songs are not slow and boring. There are peppy numbers too that give you the same kick. We wanted our listeners to start their day on a pleasant note with songs that could be heard with your young ones as well as your elders. I’m overwhelmed with the responses coming in.
What about the content on Marina Melodies? Your on-air avatar has also been tweaked.
Yes, it’s a more pleasant and soft-spoken Ajai that you hear, rather than the naughty, whacked-out host of before. Content wise, we still give you the latest when it comes to what’s happening in your city, and all the talk and discussions attached with it. It’s a complete easy-listening package that’s tailor-made to make your mornings chilled out.
Wasn’t the show named in a unique way?
We had a bank of names that were sent in to us by our listeners. With a lot of permutations and combinations, and most importantly keeping in mind the image of the show, we zeroed in on a handful of names. We then wrote the names on chits, put them in a bowl and asked actor Sivakarthikeyan to pick one. He picked Marina Melodies and, coincidentally, his first film was also called Marina! You can check out the video on our station’s Facebook page.
Don’t forget to catch this brand new melodic morning offering from the stables of Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM. See you next week.
