A five-day workshop with international artists to make you music smart
Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music is organising a five-day interactive workshop on music performance. “India has a lot of young and exceptionally creative minds who can contribute greatly towards world music. I think this workshop will help them get a different perspective about music and enhance their creativity even more,” says Barry Hogan, who has worked as a music producer with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Prince, Lil Wayne and Justin Beiber. He will be giving an introduction to sound capturing techniques and also digital audio workstations such as Pro Tools and Logic Pro.
Other international artistes on board are Andre Sousa, Greg Diamond, Mili Vizcaino and Johann Berby. All are faculty members at the institute and will be taking master classes on guitar, bass guitar, piano and drums, along with voicing techniques and music production.
While the workshop will primarily focus on contemporary jazz techniques, sessions will also be conducted for Carnatic, African, Latin, Brazilian and rock music. “If they are here to learn an instrument, the students will need a prior knowledge of music,” says Sousa, a drummer from Portugal who has played for Tony Carreira, the popular Portuguese singer.
