    Phoenix MarketCity showcases the best of  summer wear with brands like Diesel, Vero Moda and moreALDO WOMEN HEELS

    PHOENIX MarketCity is at it again. They showcased the autumn/winter collection in September 2015 with a fashion show. Just that this time, they have upped the game — and signed up with renowned fashion choreographer Aparna Bahl and actress Aditi Rao Hydari and supermodel Candice Pinto as showstoppers. Unveiling the latest spring/summer collection of select retailers from the mall, expect the likes of Brooks Brothers, Diesel, Gant, GAS, Guess, Kenneth Cole, Charles and Keith, Vero Moda and Steve Madden among other brands on the ramp. “In the first edition, we had Marc Robinson choreographing the show. We at Phoenix are always looking to do better than the last time, so this time we have Aparna,” shares Noel Vessaoker, Centre Director of Phoenix MarketCity. Speaking about the evolution of fashion in the city, Vessaoker says, “Chennai is getting exposed to the new brands that we have in the mall, so we are showcasing them in this event,” adding that preparations started two months ago.
    The trend of fashion shows being organised at malls to promote the brands they house is not new here. Last year, Grand Mall’s (Velachery) fashion show unveiled the latest collection of brands like Shopper’s Stop, Allen Solly, GJ’s Exclusif and Jashn. However, Phoenix MarketCity is doing it on a larger scale by roping in renowned fashion industry experts.

    Brand wagon
    The show will feature contemporary western wear from office and sports apparel to florals, laces, sequins, brunch and cocktail wear with splashes of different colours. Bahl, who has done shows like Lakme Fashion Week and Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, loves the multi-brand idea and says, “I am very excited about the fact that there are many brands coming together and as a consumer that is very exciting and also to see how people react to it. It is quite unusual, because you never have so many brands mixing it up.”

    Model talk
    Talking about the city’s fashion trends, Pinto says, “People are more aware about fashion trends, thanks to social networking. They have come a long way from the time I started modelling.” Pinto is all for retail therapy and says, “I am happy as shopping is one of my best friends, and to beat the heat you need some colours in your wardrobe; looking forward to what’s in store.”
