Hyderabad designer Shriya Bhupal is all set to debut in the city.
Designer Shriya Bhupal may have debuted at Lakme Fashion Week only last March, but her label Shriya Som has already got the stamp of approval from the fashionistas. A-listers in Bollywood—from Radhika Apte to Alia Bhatt—have made red carpet statements in her ensembles complete with floral motifs. Closer home, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has donned her creations, too. This Hyderabad-based designer, a scion of the renowned conglomerate, GVK business group, will be debuting her prêt-a-porter line in the city this week. “I am flying down with around 80 ready-to-wear garments from different collections,” informs the 27-year-old, who graduated from Parsons School of Design, New York, and will be available at the venue today.
Her lookbook highlights the element of romanticism and vintage chic so inherent in her garments. Expect intricate embroidery with different types of thread work, which creates a matte finish, crystals add some shine. “There will be fringe dresses and bubble crystal skirts with peplum tops, and the godet jacket from my ready-to-wear line,” informs the designer, who is also in the news for her high-profile relationship with actor Akhil Akkineni.
Showcasing three collections— Ebb and Flow, and Fringe Floral, from her debut spring/summer 2016 collection, and her fall/winter 2016 collection, Midnight Garden—the colour palette includes onion pink, nude and metallic shades. Her fall/winter line veers towards darker hues (berry pinks, oxblood red, plumes, dusty nudes) and edgier looks.
