This weekend was all about children. It’s always fun when Children‘s Day (November 14) falls on a weekend and they get the licence to party. Hyderabad is playing host to the 19th International Children‘s Film Festival (ends today) and we all got to see chief guests and actresses Tabu, Kapoor sisters Kareena and Karisma not just be part of the formal inaugural ceremony at Shilpakala Vedika, but also join a little prodigy in a dance number too. The actresses had a brief moment with chairperson Mukesh Khanna after the event.

Prasad’s Imax, which was among one of the main venues for movie screening, was packed with children running around to catch the action. Amid all the selfie moments of the little ones with their fancy, high end mobile phones, my mobile seemed to cut a sorry figure.

Meanwhile, Femmis, a women’s club founded by Geet Gupta, celebrated Children‘s Day with Rainbow Foundation, a home for street kids. Geet and her friends spent time catching up with kids along with song and dance and showered them with gifts. They said they felt on top of the world when they gave not just gifts and sweets, but their time too.

Mirrors – A cut above chain opened its third salon at Gachibowli. Dr Vijayalakshmi, founder, Mirrors Salons & Academy, personally welcomed the guests to show them around. The surprise of the evening was getting to see superstar Balakrishna, otherwise a reticent star who keeps away from fashion events, rampwalk in style with a model. Actress Sanjjanaa, Nikki Galrani and Nikhil were among stars who were present.
