Seen in the latest ad campaigns, these celebrity children prove it’s never too early to get fashion smart for a living
100 per cent cute
50 Cent’s son, Sire Jackson, has possibly clipped your yearly wages with his latest signing. The little tyke made his runway debut last Tuesday, wearing a three-piece suit in Isabella Couture’s fashion show at the Los Angeles Fashion Week, with his father grinning ear to ear. His mother, Daphne Joy, apparently had to carry him down the runway because he got nervous. But the announcement his father made on a radio show later was even more fantastic. ‘‘He’s got a [modelling] deal now with Kidz Safe, an audio company,’’ the singer-actor revealed. And at just two years old, we are jealous of his six figure paycheck which read $700,000. ‘‘He’s super cute, you gotta pay for it,’’ joked Curtis Jackson (a.k.a 50 Cents). And we whole-heartedly agree.
A perfect balance
Seven-year-old Dannielynn Birkhead, the daughter of model Anne Nicole Smith, has also entered the fashion business. The gorgeous girl has made her debut as the Guess Kids Girl. The ad featured Dannielynn and musician Babyface’s daughter Peyton Edmonds, wearing hats, striped shirts, denim vests, shorts and even miniskirts for the print and broadcast commercials. Shot on a beach in Malibu, California, both the children had earned $10,000 each. According to her father, Larry Birkhead, the ad is a tribute to her mother.
We all know that Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio has been posing for the camera since the age of 12. Now, the 33-year-old’s tot Anja has made her way into the modelling world with an ad for outerwear and luggage company London Fog. The model herself and Anja shot in rainproof outerwear and stylish handbags for the brand’s Spring line. “Anja had a lot of fun. She loved all of her outfits. She always sees me changing clothes, doing make-up and hair. So for her it’s really exciting to play with make-up,” said Ambrosio. As for Anja’s career in modelling, Ambrosio says, “There’s a lot of things to be concerned about. But I think the most important thing is to have the right people surround you, to have the right support.”
It was only fitting that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s little angel North was photographed by Michael Avedon and styled by Carine Roitfeld, for her magazine CR Fashion Book. Wearing a nappy and Chanel, the cute 13-month-old miss was part of the feature called Legends, which documented fashion icons across time. She was sporting a Chanel cardigan and lambskin classic flap bag. With Chanel’s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, commenting, “It is never too early to care about fashion,” you know that North has a bright future ahead of her.
It was at the age of 10 that Romeo Beckham landed his first modelling assignment with Burberry. With Victoria and David Beckham for parents, we’re not surprised by the fashion sense this kid has. After Romeo’s dapper shoot with Burberry in a trench coat, the chief creative head Christopher Bailey, said, “It continues to be an utter joy working with Romeo—he has charm, style and great energy.” The 12-year-old has reportedly earned £45,000 for just a day’s work. Now that’s a tad too much, we think. More recently, Brooklyn also graced the cover of the Spring/Summer 2014 issue of Man About Town. The 15-year-old has already learnt to imitate his mother’s scowl.
