Owning a radio station on the World Wide Web is not an easy task as there are quite a few curves to be negotiated before hitting that straight stretch, which leads you to your audience. From music rights to choosing the right server to arranging the soundscape and testing the same, it’s quite a job to put up a station on the triple ‘w’. But what if all of the above was taken care of and all you need to do is log in and play? Wouldn’t that be inviting enough to run a station on the internet? Well, it’s possible now, with Arvind Raghu’s isai4u. I caught up with him to find out more.
How does one own a radio station on isai4u?
It’s simple. Log on to isai4u.com, choose your package and subscribe—your customised station will be up and running. This is the first registered and licensed in-store music management company in India, holding a license to use Indian and international music. We are backed by a solid team of radio professionals, who understand the medium and are capable of providing you your choice of a station.
What made you come up with such an idea ?
Being in radio for the past 15 years, I’ve always wanted to own a radio station. The reasons are many, but to list a few, it would be to entertain people, reach the masses and, obviously, to make money. However, starting an FM radio is not as simple as many think. There was a possibility of doing the same, with a focus on customisation, on the internet. It took 18 months for me to get the necessary license from IPRS (Indian Performing Right Society Ltd) and PPL (Phonographic Performance Ltd), to create software that supports multiple audio streaming with live feed. Now I can proudly tell the world that not only I, but anyone can own a personalised radio using my platform.
How different is your offering from others?
The highlight of our product is that it’s 100 per cent customised. Some of the features are Branded Live Radio, commercial free music and Jock Talk (as per the client’s requirement), besides being cost effective and having 24×7 customer support.
