The team at Social is seriously taking street food influences up a few notches, as we discovered. Look out for cocktails in old fashioned goti soda bottles (the kind with marble stoppers) in flavours like khus and mint with whisky, ice cream sodas with vodka, white rum with rooh afja, gin and ginger and my favorite, masaledaar vodka nimboo pani. You can buy them singly or in wooden crates of six for variety. They also dispense little shots of potent candy flavours like paan pasand and mango bites. Freshly squeezed sugarcane juice with Malibu, dark or white makes for a deliciously refreshing summer cocktail.
Small plates of masala papad, chilli cheese bread pakora, cheese stuffed chillies got our palates going along with Malabar chicken lollipops and a DIY gol gappa thali and bhindi chaat. Don’t leave without sampling the delicious white butter chicken (minus tomatoes), dal makhani and delicate rosemary nihari. They come with flaky croissant paratha! Sweet toothed people can gorge on gulab jamun cheese cake, rasgulla baked Alaska and old monk chocolate samosas with vanilla ice, which was hard to beat.
