Spicy Sangria returns to the city tomorrow
Promising a fashion extravaganza, Spicy Sangria is back this weekend, for its third edition. Hosted by mother-daughter duo Shaan and Sharmilla Khanna, the event will see some of the country’s top designers come together to showcase their latest collections. “This year, we have 70 designers participating and this time around, the list also includes a number of menswear designers, such as Azga, Project Bandi by Sakshi Mehra, and Lakshmi Laungani,” begins Shaan. And while shopping will be high on everyone’s agenda, Shaan reveals that one of the highlights of the event is a special workshop by lingerie brand, Buttercups, that will give you tips on choosing the right bra.
With an aim to reinvent and re-popularise the Nehru jacket, stylist-turned-designer Sakshi Mehra’s Project Bandi is a stall the fashion forward shopper must make a stop at. “What we are trying to do is make it more casual, rather than occasional. So the fabrics used are unconventional — think denim, corduroy and suede,” explains Mehra.
For accessories and jewellery, make your way to the Valliyan stall. Designer Nitya Arora will be bringing down her festive line, which was showcased at the Fall Winter 2016 Lakme Fashion Week. Tapping into the choker rage, the collection will include dressy chokers made with copper, brass, semi-precious stone and glass. “People in Bengaluru aren’t too adventurous with their fashion choices. But I’m hoping to see that change,” shares Arora.
The newest entrant into this Spicy Sangria is Bengaluru-based Eazelly.com which will be showcasing hand-made and responsibly sourced products. Also look out for names like Roshni Chopra, Outhouse, Ray & DaleY, and Archana Shah.
