Get some beach pointers from a fashion show by The Children’s Place.
Children’s fashion shows are slowly gaining ground in the country. Even as Mumbai and Gurgaon host the fifth edition of India Kids Fashion Week tomorrow, we have North America’s largest retail brand for kids, The Children’s Place, organising a fashion show at the Express Avenue mall. Featuring their latest spring/summer collection, 22 children will sashay down the ramp in bright and vibrant apparel and accessories. Incidentally, the brand’s second store recently opened at the mall.
From floral print skirts to graphic tees, shorts to skorts, and flip flops to funky sunglasses, the latest collection is dominated by beach wear for both girls and boys (Rs 560 onwards). “Floral is big. As is embroidery, stones, shimmer and glitter that add bling to the collection,” says Mridumesh Kumar Rai, COO and business head of The Children’s Place, India. “The fabrics used are mostly cotton-based,” she shares, adding that the graphic tees (Rs 399 onwards) for boys—with Marvel comic characters, from Captain America to Iron Man—are in demand.
The fashion show, which is being choreographed by Bangalorean Sheetal Sharma, fashion choreographer and designer, will feature children between the ages of four and 10 years, who were selected through an audition conducted a few months ago. “This show is our way of interacting with the children. We want to make them feel like celebrities. So the show will feature only local children,” adds Rai.
Tomorrow, at the Atrium, Express Avenue mall, from 5 pm. Details: 28464818
