Originally from Texas, electro house artiste Dallas Kandi is a perfect ten — equal parts looks, brains and talent. A part-time model, Kandi entered the world of EDM while still in college, mixing backing tracks and playing at frat parties. Currently living in New Delhi, Kandi travels the world and plays at clubs across the country. We catch up with the artiste ahead of her gig at Eclipse this Saturday.
Having a pretty face is an asset anywhere. But looks are subjective because people have different tastes. It is more about the energy you convey through your music and the connection you have with your audience in this industry.
Moving to India
My passion for travel got me to India. I have traveled all my life to different places, but there was something about India that got me. I love how people here are so warm and welcoming, and the culture has always fascinated me. Apart from that, I am a total sucker for Indian food.
I listen to DJs like Tiesto and Eric Prydz to newer generation artistes like Avicii and Martin Garrix.
While growing up, I was deeply influenced by the indie culture around me – so funky, stylish, sporty and hip.
DNA of EDM
It’s pure entertainment. Made for the best clubs, created to let sub woofers run on maximum. And bring people’s blood to a fine rhythm, of course.
Beyond the turntable
I would definitely choose acting. Growing up, I always took part in plays and felt very comfortable with theatre.
