Just a few weeks ago, the film Remo released, which saw actor Sivakarthikeyan masquerading as a nurse. Team Mirchi got into a huddle and came up with a plan to integrate and showcase the movie with their content, both on-air as well as on social media. The idea was to create a “Remo RJ”. Who better to pull this off than Ajai Titus of the breakfast show. Here’s our chat.
A bold initiative from you. Tell us how this idea came about?
We always try to create something special for our Friday star interviews. RJ Shivshankari, our breakfast show producer, Padmapriya Raghavan, and our AVP programming, Sushmita Chakkungal, came up with the plan to transform me into a nurse and do what Sivakarthikeyan had done in the movie. However, I was very hesitant in the beginning. I would like to thank my team for all their support.
How was the response from the listeners as well as on social media?
Sivakarthikeyan is the darling of the masses and our Mirchi listeners love him to bits. He is very special for our show as he is the one who named our breakfast show. The listeners loved the on-air segment and we went live on Facebook, too, and the response on social media has been so huge that in minutes we went viral.
Did you enjoy the transformation? How easy or difficult was it?
I loved it. I was skeptical in the beginning, but with the entire team behind me I dove right in. The professional team of makeup artist Salim, costumer Sathyam and hairstylist Saravanan made this possible. To look the part was easy, but to act like a girl was really tough. My respect towards women has increased immensely after I played this role.
A word on the viral video?
It’s a small skit where Sivakarthi-keyan walks into a clinic with a headache and I play the nurse. You have to watch it, else I’ll be robbing you of the fun. Do watch it on my Facebook page, Mirchi Ajai.
See you next week.
