A new destination for all things bridal
Translating to ‘tailor’ in Sanskrit, Soucika, by designer Kamal Raj Manickath, is a new address for all your bridal and occasion wear needs. With stores in Dubai and other parts of India, the label opens with a festive colour palette that includes a lot of reds like russet, crimson, burgundy and scarlet, apart from shocking pink and milder peach, and offers both ready to wear and bespoke services.
From saris, lehengas and salwar suits to blouses, bridal and evening gowns, Soucika has everything covered. The garments see a lot lace, sheer fabric, embroidery and bead work with embellishments mainly in dusky gold, that stand out yet are tasteful. Most of the lace is sourced from Dubai, which Manickath tells us has superior quality fabrics, unmatched by the city’s manufacturers.
Playing dress up
Choose from an inky blue raw silk high neck blouse contrasted with orange beadwork and antique gold aari work, French knots, kundan and zardosi or an elegant yet sexy number crafted with wine red velvet fabric and bronze lace with a smattering of purple, gold and orange crystals.
We were quite impressed with the saris on display too, and particularly liked a black net and cream number with brown lace embellished with Swarovski crystals, perfect for the festive season ahead. Their bespoke services extend to gowns, saris, lehengas and blouses and take about a month to complete.
