    Hate Story 2 (Thriller), UTV Movies, 2 pm
    Cast: Surveen Chawla, Sushant Singh, Jay Bhanushali
    Sonika Prasad (Chawla), the mistress of a powerful political leader Mandar Mhatre, is found buried alive in a coffin. It is then discovered that she was tortured by Mhatre, and, when she tries to esape and start a new life with the man she loves, Akshay (Bhanushali), it turns into a disaster. Akshay is killed by three of Mhatre’s men, while Sonika survives. With dishonest cops and ruthless men hunting her, will Sonika be able to avenge her lover’s death? The trailer of the movie hit over seven million views within 10 days of its release.

    Cast: Kainaz Motivala, Rajkummar Rao
    A couple, Ragini (Motivala) and Uday (Rao), decide to stay at a farmhouse to spend some time together. Uday plans to record his intimate moments with Ragini without her knowledge, but is interrupted by the arrival of Ragini’s friend, Pia (Janice) and her boyfriend, Vishal (Rajat Kaul). The latter reveals the house belonged to a lady who was killed by her family, accused of being a witch, and that her ghost still haunts the house. Vishal soon gets spooked and leaves with his girlfriend, but is found dead later. Ragini and Uday realise the ghost is not done yet. The film was shot in 25 days.

    After the Munich Massacre in 1972, the Israeli government retaliates by targeting a list of 11 people, for the 11 Israeli men killed. Avner (Bana), an Israeli-born Mossad agent is hired for the task. His team comprises Steve (Craig), Hans (Hanns Zischler), Robert (Mathieu Kassovitz) and Carl (Ciarán Hinds), all professionals with different skill sets. They
    succeed in killing a few of the targets but soon their life is on the line even as they debate the morality of their actions. Though fiction, Munich describes many actual events from the early 1970s.

    Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (Action / Mystery), WB, 5 pm
    Cast: Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, Jared Harris
    Holmes (Downey Jr) investigates a series of murders, terrorist attacks and business acquisitions across the world, which he feels is connected to Professor Moriarty (Harris). On their first encounter, Moriarty threatens Holmes with the life of Watson (Law) and his newly wedded wife (Kelly Reilly). Holmes saves Watson and his wife from an attack planned by Moriarty. On learning a bomb has been planted in Paris, Holmes and Watson head to Paris. It is the 12th highest-grossing film released in 2011 worldwide.

    The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (Drama), Romedy Now, 9 pm
    Cast: Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel
    Bridget (Lively), Carmen (Ferrera), Lena (Bledel) and Tibby (Tamblyn), the four teenage girls from Bethesda and Maryland, are going to be separated for the first time because each has a different plan for the summer break. Though of different measurements, when they find a pair of jeans that fits them all perfectly, they decide to be connected by those jeans and call it the travelling pants. Oddly enough the pants do play an important role in their holiday. The movie won America Ferrera the Imagen Foundation Awards for the Best Actress.

    Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of Evil (Action), Star Movies Action, 10.22 pm
    Cast: Nicholas Gonzalez, Matt Bushell, Bruce McGill
    US President Adair T Manning (Peter Coyote) orders a team of US Navy SEALs to destroy a missile and its launch site after it has been spotted in North Korea by satellites. The team of four led by Lieutenant Robert James (Gonzalez) set off for the mission, which is aborted by the Pentagon. Things go awry as two of the SEALs parachute to the North Korean territory and the whole team is caught by the North Korean Commander Hwang (Joseph Steven Yang). Will the team escape from Hwang and his men, and destroy the missile? The film is a fictitious account of the Ryanggang explosion that took place in North Korea.

    Guardians of the Galaxy (Action), Star Movies HD, 9 pm
    Cast: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel
    Peter Quill (Pratt), the space adventurer is hunted by Ronan (Lee Pace), the villain, after having stolen an orb coveted by the latter from Earth. Quill creates a team, Guardians of the Galaxy, to save the galaxy from the wrath of Ronan and his men. The team tries to save and protect the orb from Ronan, who wants to sell it to make a lot of money. But to make matters worse, the space pirate Yondu is after the orb too. This is the third highest-grossing film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, behind The Avengers and Iron Man 3.

    Thor 2: The Dark World (Action), Zee Studio, 9 pm
    Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins
    Dark Elves attempt to send the universe into darkness, with the help of the weapon Aether, but they are thwarted by the warriors from Asgard lead by Bor and the weapon is kept in a secret place. Malekith (Christopher Eccleston), the leader of Dark Elves escapes and is waiting for another opportunity to finish what he had started. Centuries later, Jane Foster (Portman), a scientist, discovers Aether accidently and the weapon possesses her. She forces Thor (Hemsworth) to bring her to Asgard before Malekith and his men find her. But Malekith does not give up. The movie surpassed its prequel in collection within 19 days of its release.

    Godzilla (Science Fiction), HBO, 9 pm
    Cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen
    Fifteen years ago, there was a mysterious accident at the Janjira nuclear plant, which resulted in a formation of radiation eating organisms called MUTOs (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism). Cut back to present and Joe Brody (who lost his wife Sandra to the accident) is arrested for trespassing in the accident area while he was investigating. Upon receiving his pictures, the US Navy learns about the MUTOs and assigns a team led by Ford Brody (Johnson) to find the marauding creatures. Soon they realise that they have another prehistoric massive creature to tackle, the Godzilla, who is also out to destroy the MUTOs. The movie was released on the original film’s 60th anniversary.

    Captain America – The First Avenger (Action), Sony Pix, 9 pm
    Cast: Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving
    After being rejected from military service during the World War II, Steve Rogers (Evans) is recruited by Dr Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci) for a secret project. The project called Rebirth transforms Steve into a super soldier. Later, Dr Erskine is assassinated by an agent who works for Johann Schmidt (Weaving), head of a German science division called Hydra as he fears the success of Dr Erskine’s project. Meanwhile, Steve is kept as a mere US war-drive propaganda tool called Captain America, without understanding his worth. Stanley Tucci took up the role because he wanted to use the German accent which Dr Erskine uses.
