The story revolves around a musician, Jordon (Kapoor), who
is oddly untouched by his fame. Back in his college days, he was Janardhan Jhakar—chasing his dreams of stardom and in love
with Heer (Fakhri), a popular college girl. His carefree days end when Heer moves away and he is thrown out of his home due to a misunderstanding. Finding refuge in a dargah, he rediscovers his passion for music and is noticed by Ustad Jameel Khan (Shammi Kapoor), a well known musician, who decides to promote him. Things get complicated when his musical journey takes him to Prague where he meets a married Heer. This was Shammi Kapoor’s last performance in a feature film, before his demise in 2011.

Dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch) is on a rampage as Erebor, the treasure-filled mountain, has been breached. He breathes fire over Laketown and kills many before Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) shoots him down. Meanwhile, the hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Freeman) and his company of dwarves watch from the Lonely Mountain, worried that the treasures of the mountain will fall into the wrong hands. The greed for the dragon’s hoard is irresistible and armies of orcs descend on Erebor, while dwarves, elves and men try to fend them off. Of all the six Middle-Earth movies directed by Peter Jackson, this one has the shortest running time—two hours and 24 minutes.

A newly-married Meera (Penty) finds herself stranded in London after she discovers that her husband Kunal (Randeep Hooda) married her for her money. She befriends Gautam (Khan) at the airport, but spurns him when he tries asking her out. She then meets Veronica (Padukone), who helps her out by letting her stay in her house. They meet Gautam again at a nightclub. He soon gets involved with Veronica and moves in with them—a situation Meera initially dislikes. However, she soon warms to him and the three become best friends. But will their friendship be able to withstand the complications of love? Imran Khan was originally chosen to play Khan’s character.
I Origins (Sci-Fi/Drama), Star Movies Select HD, 9 pm
Cast: Michael Pitt, Brit Marling
Ian Gray (Pitt), a graduate student, is researching the evolution of the human eye with his partner Karen (Marling). He wants to prove that eyes did not just appear as creationists claim, but evolved. Gray falls in love with Sofi (Astrid Berges-Frisbey) whom he meets at a Halloween party and becomes fascinated with her eyes. They plan to get married, but Sofi is killed in an accident, pushing Gray into depression. He later marries Karen and they continue with their research. But now they have a mystery to solve: how their son’s eyes can resemble those of a person who died before he was conceived. The number 11 is a recurring theme in the movie, with even the running time of the movie adding up to 11.

Four armed men hijack a New York subway train. During negotiations, the leader, Ryder (Travolta), asks Walter Garber (Washington), the dispatcher in charge of the subway line, for $10 million in an hour—or he threatens to kill hostages. Ryder also reveals he knows about Garber’s ongoing investigation for bribery. As tempers flare will a solution be found? Based on a novel by the same name, the title is derived from the train’s radio call sign.

After he doesn’t come home one night, Gopal’s (Devgn) wife Ekta (Kapoor) suspects him of having an affair. But he had spent the night on his friend’s yacht with Meera, a young woman he had saved from some goons. To cover it up, Gopal cooks up a story about meeting a friend named Anthony Gonsalves. When Ekta doesn’t believe him, he makes the plot murkier by asking Laxman Prasad, a man who had come into his office for an interview, to impersonate Gonsalves. Everything goes well until a dead body is found where Gopal had saved Meera. This is a remake of the 1989 Marathi movie Pheka Pheki.
