The Dark Knight Rises
(Superhero/Drama), WB, 5.55 pm Cast: Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway Eight years after requesting Gordon (Gary Oldman) to announce to the world that Batman is responsible for the tragic death of Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne (Bale) now leads a reclusive life, away from his alternate existence as a vigilante. However he is forced to come out of retirement when the masked mercenary Bane (Hardy) takes the stock exchange hostage. Though Bruce slowly realises the full scale of Bane’s terror plan, he finds himself unprepared to grapple with his past with the League of Shadows. To prepare for the role of Bane, Tom Hardy gained 30 pounds.

Cast: Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah Kamal Mehra’s (Kapoor) life is complicated. His company, Ayka, is nearing bankruptcy; his relationship with his wife, Neelam (Shah), is a sham; his son Kabir (Singh) doesn’t want to join the business; and his daughter Ayesha (Chopra) is in a bad marriage. On their 30th wedding anniversary, Mehra and Neelam invite their friends on a cruise where they hope Kabir will woo a rich heiress who can help bail out their company. But their plans are ruined when Kabir falls in love with a free-spirited dancer. The original cast consisted of Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

Cast: Steven Seagal, Victor H Webster, Tzi Ma After a disastrous covert operation at the border of Dagestan, where the leader Alexander’s (Seagal) entire team is wiped out and their target, Chen, escapes, he relocates to Eastern Europe to lead a quiet life. His neighbour, Lena (Iula Verdes), works in a club owned by the mafia boss Vladimir (Claudiu Bleont), who doesn’t like it when Alexander tries to bond with Lena. A fight between Alexander and Vladimir’s men ensues, and the former is suddenly thrust into the middle of an all-out war between rival Chinese and Russian gangs. The movie is a prequel to the 2013 movie, Force of Execution.
300 – Rise of an Empire (Action), HBO, 9 pm

Based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel Xerxes, the film shows the origin of the god king. Learning that King Leonidas has gone to battle against the Persians with just 300 men, general Thermistocles (Stapleton) leads an army to help him out. The formidable Artimesia (Green), a naval commander of the late king Darius, Xerxes’ father, tries to persuade him to switch sides, but to no avail. Rodrigo Santoro, who plays the 10-foot-tall Xerxes, filmed almost all his scenes alone in a green-screen room.

CBI officer Sunil Paraskar (Menon) is attempting to unravel a mysterious case. An 18-year old girl, Ayesha Mahajan (Sem), is found murdered in her home. All eyes are on her father, Sachin Mahajan (Ashish Vidyarthi)—whom everybody suspects to be the murderer, including his wife, Aarti (Chopra). But Sunil is not convinced. He digs deep and finds out that the plot is more complicated than he had previously imagined, with a new and formidable suspect. Allegedly based on the murder case of Aarushi Talwar and Hemraj Banjade.

It’s the 1960s. CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Cavill) must help mechanic Gaby Teller defect from East Germany to the other side of the Berlin wall. He is reluctantly teamed up with the brawny KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Hammer) for the mission. Solo soon gets news from his chief, Saunders, that Udo, Teller’s missing father and a Nazi scientist, might be secretly building a nuclear weapon. Kuryakin, Teller and Solo go to Rome to investigate. But they have to first deal with the powerful Vinciguerras, who are behind the scheme. It is based on the 1964 MGM television series of the same name.
