Olive Planet launches a new range of hardcore backpacks
The physical strength of a person is defined by the core, similarly, the strength of a backpack is dependent on what it’s made of. A thought that Olive Planet (the store for premium military gear) has translated into their two new ranges of backpacks: Para Bags and 3-Day Backpacks that were launched earlier this November.
“The Para Bags are made from the same material as parachutes, so they are light, sturdy and high quality products. We’ve used1000D Nylon, which is a superior type of Nylon — the density is thicker, making it more durable,” says Captain Chetan YK, founder, Olive Planet. The Para Bags are designed after the equipment that was used on-board the B-52 bomber aircraft. “We’ve taken design elements like inter-lock hooks and colour-coding as per the bomber aircraft model,” he explains. The Para Bags variants come in different capacities going up to a maximum of 20 litres.
The 3-Day Backpacks are categorically designed for three-day trips or treks. As seasoned mountaineers and outdoor junkies will know, going on a trek would mean packing smartly and these bags aid that, with several pockets and hidden pouches. “In India, we don’t travel light. So these bags give you that edge to pack smart,” he says. These variants too are manufactured using 1000D Nylon. The material is light yet so strong, it won’t be ripped or cut easily by sharp objects. “Everything we manufacture is measured as per the armed forces’ standards, so each bag will last a lifetime and if used regularly, it is good enough for at least four years. In fact, when we launched the range, MS Dhoni bought all five variants of our backpacks,” reveals the captain.
An ex-army man, Captain Chetan started this retail brand in 2009 specifically for military requirements but their products have proved to be a hit with civilians too.
