A woman of style, Eva Mendes partnered with New York & Company to showcase a collection of affordable, eternally classic, vibrant and romantic pieces. The actress has designed a modest and modern set of items and the collection features splashy tunics, polished black dresses, elegant overcoats, playful shirt-dresses, sophisticated blouses, neat button-downs and sweaters, and trendy accessories. ‘‘The challenging part was knowing that I had women, especially my sisters, counting on me to make them look good,’’ Eva said. ‘‘I take this very seriously. There isn’t a piece in my collection that I won’t wear. I can’t wait to get feedback about what works and what doesn’t. I hope I don’t disappoint them,” Mendes shared at the launch of her clothing line two months ago. Available online at nyandcompany.com.
Nicki Minaj is bringing her fashion to the masses. The hip-hop mogul launched her lifestyle brand, the Nicki Minaj Collection, last October at Kmart and ShopYourWay.com. Retailing at $3.99 to $37.99, the collection includes everything from accessories such as bejeweled hats and gold chain necklaces to patterned leggings and acid-washed denims. Minaj has also collaborated with MAC makeup to release a limited-edition lipstick and has two of her own fragrances being distributed by Macy’s and Elizabeth Arden.
Though Kanye West’s clothing line, launched last July, was not a great hit, the singer did not hesitate to open an online store last December. G.O.O.D retails music branded clothing. The black-and-white collection, which includes hoodies, shorts, tees, hats, socks and more, was put together by Kanye’s creative agency, Donda. Meanwhile, Virgil Abloh, who works on West’s merchandise and stage shows, has come out with his new line, called Off-White, and has already got orders from Colette in Paris.
Former Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan makes a designer debut with the launch of her collection for high street retailer Lipsy, last week. The brand—known for its glam dresses and playful accessories—is much loved among celebs, and Michelle has also designed for the Kardashians by designing a collection for them. Her 30+ piece collection is fashion-forward, tapping into this season’s trends, from monochrome to lace, and will be available from July. The actress said the collection is “classic, unfussy and feminine.”
Red carpet ready
When not hosting gigs like American Idol, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, or producing shows, the host is busy designing clothes. Seacrest will make his first foray into the world of fashion with a men’s apparel and accessories line, Ryan Seacrest Distinction for Macy’s. The idea behind his collection was conceptualised when Randa Accessories, a New York-based manufacturer, approached him to create a line. The collection, set to debut this fall, will include suits, tuxedos, dress shirts, ties and belts.
