new Finishing School in Shenoy Nagar has solutions for making that perfect first impression
The first impression may be the best impression, but it is more importantly the “lasting impression” says Sugandha Mital. The certified etiquette coach, who was brought to Chennai by marriage, was first introduced to the world of first impressions through a workshop in New Delhi. “People with good etiquette have always appealed to me — they appeal to everyone in fact,” says Mital who was keen not only to learn these skill, but also how to teach them. This she achieved through Priya Warrick Finishing School in New Delhi and Florina Finishing School in Bangalore, that she passed out of in 2013. Earlier this year, Mital started Confianza, a Finishing School of her own in Shenoy Nagar, where for four months now, she has been taking workshops and one-on-one sessions of the five courses she has designed for all ages.
Mital’s “studio” is equipped to handle classes of up to 15, but she prefers to keep the numbers as low as possible. “I do a course for children between eight and 13 and I take this in groups of five or six, not more. The others I take as one-on-one sessions,” she says, explaining that the privacy of the classes is motivating, especially for teens. And at Confianza, it’s not just about body language, good manners and confidence — concepts like hygiene, grooming, diets, fitness for adults and even basic culinary skills for children (the studio has a dining set up), are the order of the day. In fact, in her course for young ladies, Mital takes you shopping (within your budget, of course) to ensure that you get your wardrobe right. “Our course for brides involves a bit more attention. We provide trousseau assistance and have modules on house decorating and time management, entertaining, etc,” she elaborates. And in case you were wondering, a Finishing School does certify the coaches on basics of diets, fitness and more. “If a client needs more detailed advise, we point them towards an expert,” admits Mital, who conducts two-day workshops that provide an insight into her courses. “My next will be in December and for kids,” she concludes.
Mital’s 15-day course for ladies costs Rs.18,500. Details: 7299924001
