    Madras Pavilion at ITC Grand Chola have themed their New Yeara��s Eve dinner around Pondicherry, and junior sous chef Sandeep Kapoor asks you not to leave without trying the buttermilk sorbet with poached prawn and the chocolate bombe shell (part of the buffet, starting from Rs2,250 onwards). Ottimo offers a set menu (Rs2,500 onwards) to end the year. Italian chef Massimo Gullotta says the Fantasia capodanno (New Zealand lamb cutlet) and blue cheese vegetable canelloni are not to be missed. Details: 22200000

    One of the many highlights at The Leela Palace is their New Yeara��s Eve buffet at Spectra. A quick chat with executive sous chef Avinash Mohan highlights scallops stations (Thai, Spanish, etc), raan stations (Afghani, Pakistani and Lucknowi versions) and one dedicated to foie gras.     Chef William Ho promises specials from the wok as part of the New Year menu that will be showcased at Golden Dragon, the signature Oriental restaurant of Taj Coromandel. Chef Ho says that their hot and sour cucumber salad, leek and chive dumplings, and rum-soaked raisin and banana pie are not to be missed. At Rs`4,250 per person with a select bar, from 8 pm till 12.45 am. Southern Spice offers a special New Year menu wit a select bar at Rs4,250 per person. Start with a multi cuisine New Yeara��s eve buffet (Rs3,333) with unlimited house wine and a midnight buffet (Rs1,000 plus tax) for some after-party snacking. At their New Year brunch (Rs2,000 plus tax) on January 1, look out for the baked bhetki with Roman artichokes and cherry tomato and Cointreau macerated winter berry gateau that come recommended by Rajesh Radhakrishnan, their director of food production.
