Viacom brings a series of original shows through its app and website, Voot

1TAKING cue perhaps from the number of viral memes that has portrayed him as the epitome figure for tradition and culture, Alok Nath’s upcoming digital show sees him in a completely different avatar on Voot, Viacom18’s latest foray into the world of digital entertainment. A talk show featuring celebrities, Sinskaari has Nath indulging in some steamy Q&A with his guests, starting with Iranian stunner Mandana Karimi (think Kya Kool Hain Hum 3). To be launched this month (dates yet to be finalised), Voot (both an app and a website) has lined up four original shows in total, out of which Sinskaari is bound to raise some eyebrows, yet generate hearty laughs.

The other highlight is the return of rapper Baba Sehgal, who will play a Roadies-obsessed guy in a show called Soadies. Chander Khanna in Chinese Bhasad hates China, and is shocked to see his grandson return to the country with a Chinese girlfriend. The fourth show, Bad Man, has the original bad man, Gulshan Grover, play a hero in this mockumentary.

Gaurav Gandhi, COO of Viacom18, shares that besides the originals, other shows of Viacom18 will also be available online, along with children’s shows and cartoons from other channels. “We are also stopping our YouTube channel,” he reveals, adding that Voot is going to be their top digital priority henceforth.
