Looking back on the craziness of the past month, this week was mellow in comparison, but I have a feeling that it’s the calm before the storm. Festivities slowly kick into gear as we round the corner towards that last home stretch. The ladies started off the weekend with a little retail therapy at Evoluzione, with the chance to meet designer Nikasha Tawadey along with her festive collection. She encourages young brides to move away from the usual, and tread their own path. “There has to be a little bit of you in the outfit, especially when you look back on it many years later,” says Tawadey. Despite her tight schedule, she was nice enough to walk us through her Rani collection, an absolute delight for any bride-to-be.
Meanwhile at The Coll-ective, Vimmi Deepak hosted a trunk show. Popular favourites like Ted Baker, Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs, got loads of attention, especially at the fashion show that followed. Vimmi got her friends to have a little fun and model a few special pieces. They showed off clutches, totes and sunglasses much to the delight of the crowd.
For those in the mood for something more serious, the weekend also saw T Harv Eker in Chennai for the first time, with his workshop ‘Millionaire Mind Intensive’. The bestselling author and motivational speaker shared his guidelines to financial success. The crowd at Chennai Trade Centre saw everyone from students and young entrepreneurs to homemakers.
And winding up the weekend was the Audi Ritz Icon Awards at the ITC Grand Chola, another in a long list of award ceremonies this year. The awardees included violinist Dr L Subramaniam, Kiran Reddy of Sathyam Cinemas, artist and art curator Bose Krishnamachari and danseuse Alarmel Valli. Besides the high profile guests list, the evening also included a fashion show by Sonam Dubal and Jason and Anshu of Small shop.
