The hit EDM duo — Lost Stories — brings their music to town
It began back in 2007 when Prayag Mehta was nursing a serious injury from a road accident. In order to kill time, he would often download music from the Internet and use his imagination to mix it with fusion dance beats. Rishab Joshi, who met Mehta through social networking, proposed to team up as Lost Stories and create electronic dance music.
Today the duo’s names are echoing in the international EDM circuit. The combination of Mehta’s progressive sounds and Joshi’s uplifting melodies were too compelling for the global electronica industry to ignore, and today they boast of tremendous support from eight of the top 10 DJs of the world. Their first joint production, False Promises was snapped up by DJ Tiesto’s Blackhole Recordings.
Mumbai-based Mehta and Joshi believe that the Indian EDM circuit is at its best phase, “The scene in India right now in context to dance music is in its golden phase. There’s a lot of scope for good original mixes with a few Hindi lines thrown in. These numbers are receiving huge traction globally, no matter if it is a young artist, they pick it up if it sounds good,” Joshi tells us.
With Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Markus Schulz, and BT backing them up, the men in their early 20s have now signed up with Spinnin Records along with whom they will release their next singles. “We have tracks with Armaan Malik, who is well-known in Bollwyood. He just sang two lines for the single and it’s become a hook,” he says.
At their second appearance in Bengaluru, they will play their new hit singles. “And we promise one hell of a show,” he signs off.
March 18. Tickets (`600) available at the venue. At Hard Rock Cafe, St Marks Road.
