Why you should upgrade from your old bike to the hottest pair of wheels from Ducati, at Track & Trail
For starters, they all come in red — a hot-rod Ducati red may I add — with the brand’s logo splashed across the frame so you can be sure to turn heads. Secondly, the bicycles feature aluminium and carbon fibre frames, stainless steel spokes, internal cable routing and hydraulic breaking, among other very technical specifications that we will allow you to discover. On offer at Track & Trail in Nungambakkam, are seven bikes handpicked by TI Cycles of India from the Ducati series — each forged for a specific purpose. Take the Factory SP for example: with a carbon fibre frame, this road bike is the lightest offering from the line up (8.2 kgs), making it the perfect machine for professional bicycle racers.
Built for terrain
But the VP international business of TI Cycles, KC Ramamoorthy, feels that the brand’s mountain bike range will find the most takers. “Across the country, a large number of people are getting back on bikes,” he points out. For them, TI has picked a hybrid offering from Ducati that is ideal for commuting and recreational biking. “But there is also another group, of mostly boys, who like their bikes to have large tires and lots of features,” he says, adding that for them, they have four mountain bikes with adjustable suspension — ideal for off-roading. Each of these bikes is available in three different sizes to suit the rider, we’re told. Incidentally, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer gets the bikes designed and manufactured by European experts Cycleurope, the name behind brands like Bianchi.
The complete package
Currently available only in Chennai, Bangalore, Pune and Delhi, TI’s next target is Mumbai. And for customers in Chennai, Track & Trail offers two free services in addition to a free tuning every Sunday — if you join their Sunday Ride, that is. But considering that other international brands (think Cannondale and Bianchi) also offer equivalent features, why should you go in for a heftier price tag? “Ducati is an aspirational lifestyle product. So there’s visual aspects packaged with performance aspects — such as the unique frame geometry and decals — that make Ducati stand out,” is Rama-moorthy’s reply.
The Ducati bikes start from Rs.56,000 onwards. Details: 42303566
