Luxe bespoke bridal wear goes online with vemanya.com
Touted as India’s first online bridal boutique, Vemanya.com was launched early last month to cater to the needs of every shape, size and colour of bride, going by the extensive and varied collection they have on offer. Started by designer Ritu Tandon, who has been involved in the business of fashion for over 25 years and entrepreneur Monika Srivastava, the label went live in January, breaking into the field of online bespoke bridal wear. “It’s a one-stop-shop for all things bridal, making it easier for brides who are constantly on the go with little time to spare,” explains Tandon.
While they do offer ready-to-wear garments as well, the bespoke services are easy to avail. Customers must first choose the outfit they want. Once a particular outfit is chosen, you are taken to the next step, which is measurements. Detailed instructions and illustrations will guide you on how to measure yourself for each ensemble they have stocked, after which you can proceed to payment. If it’s some extra guidance that’s needed, the buyer can book an appointment with one of their expert stylists who will be with the bride every step of the way, tracking the progress of the order.
“Our stylists are young NIFT-trained fashion designers, who know their stuff, so you can rest assured you’re in safe hand,” Tandon shares.
Get your bling on
From saris, to lehengas, shararas, ghararas, ghaghris (sari-cum-ghagara), Indo-Western wear and even resort and sleepwear to keep your honeymoon covered, the site promises something for everyone. “For 2015, I see that pink is the new red. Also brides are starting to opt for unusual colours like coral and neons,” says Tandon and recommends a timeless coral lehenga that combines gilded embroidery with jaal work in gold and silver, bugle beads, sequins and dabka and is paired with a suitably blingy wisp of a dupatta and halter blouse — apt for a sangeet or reception. For the traditional bride, she suggests a flaming orange tanchoi silk and burgundy velvet number, for the main event, featuring paisley zardosi with antique gold and resham.
Shades of blue is another strong trend she sees becoming a rage and recommends her aloha and midnight blue skirt and jacket set, for the more adventurous bride. A great sangeet outfit, it takes its inspiration from Rajasthani street style. The luxe ensemble features a cropped dupion silk jacket in deep blue with intricate resham, dori, zari and kundan work. The multi-layered georgette skirt in varying shades of blue lends a contemporary vibe to the look.
While it is possible to track your order, trials can prove to be a bit of an issue if the order is not placed in advance. Brides can either fix an appointment at Vemanya’s Delhi office or have it shipped to them and back with necessary changes. The finished product is delivered between 30 to 45 days from when the order is placed.
