HIS year’s edition of the Jaguar Trousseau week features a full-blown Indian wedding, around the theme ‘Seven steps to forever’ – which include a grand proposal, Punjabi Roka, Bachelor/bachelorette party, Muslim mehendi, Band baja baraat, Christian wedding vows and Reception party. Presented by The Collection in association with Sublime Galleria, the 10-day event sees the coming together of big names like Neeta Lulla, Raghavendra Rathore, JJ Vallya and Satya Paul, apart from stores in UB City, like Jimmy Choo, Avirate and Good Earth. “This year, the event is going to be very different with a special theme and elaborate arrangements in place, unlike last year where we had a fashion show,” shares Uzma Irfan, founder and conceptualiser of the annual showcase.
A one-stop destination for all your wedding planning, designing and consulting needs, a fun feature is the interactive weaving stall where you will be guided by a weaver, courtesy Pragati Mathur, at a handloom that will be installed there. A textile designer and weaver herself, she will create bespoke handloom and handwoven saris, shawls, dupattas and wall textiles.
Neeta Lulla’s collection for the event is taken from her AW 14 line and sees a mix of varied silhouettes and distinctive modern, vintage and elegant looks. The ensembles blend dramatic and simplistic styles and coordinates that exude drama and elegance while the colours vary from ivories to pastels and vibrant Indian hues. The collection showcases contemporary Indian wear in georgette, lace net and velvet fabrics with appliqué work of kalamkari. An elegant and contemporary twist is given to Kanjivaram silk saris, adding a traditional touch to the modern bride’s trousseau.
