Manjushaa is back, this time with Indo-western and a kids series as wellIMG_20160303_131032

SISTERS Ayshwarya (35) and Soundarya Srinivasan’s (32) venture ‘Manjushaa’ began as an attempt to design and source elegant jewellery for themselves and friends for special occasions. That has ballooned into the business it is now — with a website for sales, as well as exhibitions held every quarter for antique, temple and kundan jewellery. The first this year, the day-long event to be held at the Banquet Hall of Mahamudra restaurant, Isha Life, tomorrow will showcase the Haute Summer Collection, which include the new Indo-Western and kids’ collections.
Chennai-based Manjushaa, which started in 2009, implies ‘box of jewels’ and their online store caters to the urban working woman who wants that one piece of jewellery that makes a style statement. Expect mostly copper-based creations with gold polish. Ayshwarya says, “Chennai shoppers still like minimalistic designs and our earrings are quite popular. Temple jewellery sets have always been easy picks with our customers.”
In addition to some pieces that have been designed by the duo, they have sourced pieces from all over India like Jaipur and Mumbai among other cities. “We want every piece of jewellery to be unique and handpicked. Our target audience is 25-40 year-old women,” shares Ayshwarya. Offering temple and antique sets, kundan, polki anklets, traditional tikkas, bangles, bracelets, armlets and watches — this time, watch out for the earrings set with turquoise, kid’s earrings for occasions and workwear that feature unusual studs.
Rs 200 onwards. At Mahamudra, Mylapore. From tomorrow, 11am – 7pm. Details: manjushaa09@gmail.com
