Two NIFT graduates showcase suede party dresses and sequined leggings
Party wear with sequins, quirked up with safety pin embellishments, snakeskin prints and unusual silhouettes are the main draws at Which Witch, the new apparel store in Shenoy Nagar. It was launched on August 9 and the owners, Bianca Jeswant (23) and Varsha Isaacs (26) insist, “We are going to experiment with all kinds of stuff. One day, we would make a top out of a square-shaped fabric and another day we would add volume to a top by seaming layers. But yes, we like making clothes that have a happy and cheerful vibe.”
Swear by soft
With black interiors, there is enough burst of colour in the 200 sq ft store with clothes that come in hot pink, purple, turquoise, gold and green. The duo offer party dresses, casual tops, palazzo pants, skirts and more in fabrics like Italian crepes, chiffons and georgettes. “We like to use soft fabrics that will flow smoothly,” says Jeswant. One look at the colour palette and patterns used and it is clear that the NIFT graduates know their target audience — young and hip and below 30.
Named on a whimsy, Which Witch debuted at Bangalore’s Kitsch Mandi exhibition in 2012 and, in two years, they decided to have a store of their own. “We also plan to introduce accessories like bags and jewellery soon,” Isaacs signs off.
