Monkey Bar launches their Breakfast Shift starting this Sunday
A great platform for upcoming and talented musicians, Monkey Bar has come up with the unique idea of a breakfast concert, which will kick off this Sunday. For the debut gig, city-based Michael Dias and Deepa Jacob, known for their CounterCulture performances will take centre stage. “When the management at Monkey Bar came up with the concept of a breakfast shift, I instantly agreed, as it is the first time they are doing a music concert at that time of day,” begins Dias. Surprisingly though, this is also the first time Dias will be going to Monkey Bar. “I have never been to Monkey Bar before, and it will be my first time performing there as well. The management at the bar tells us that we must expect a huge crowd, which is something I did not expect as Sunday mornings are lethargic for everyone,” he enthuses.
Telling us about the performance itself, Jacob hints at it being an old-school gig with plenty of popular covers. “You can expect the usual covers that get the crowd going. It’ll have Michael Jackson, The Beatles and George Michael. And we’ll even throw in a few unexpected ones from Britney Spears and Aqua,” she shares. Plus, Dias adds, “We have planned music but if the crowd wants to hear something and we know it well, we will be happy to play that too.”
In addition to the ‘mellow and fun’ tunes, you can top up with classics, and we don’t mean the musical kind. We mean the sinful breakfast that Monkey Bar is known for! From eggs Kejriwal and granola crunch to Brekkie Burger Bang – a loaded start to the morning with an open faced 200 grams burger, topped with bacon, egg, mushrooms, cheese, avocado, grilled onions and lettuce, you can rest assured that entire day will comprise humming 90s tunes, channel surfing and couch naps.
Sunday, 10 am – 1 pm. At 12th Main, Indiranagar. Details: 44114455
