Balenciaga, Dries Van Noten and other hotly anticipated brands make an entry at Le Mill

THERE is a lot going on at Mumbaias iconic multi-designer boutique, Le Mill. But what has most fashionistas excited is the entry of brands like the Alexander Wang-helmed Balenciaga and the Belgian designer Dries Van Noten at the former rice mill. Plus, Stella McCartney, the Londoner who designs clothes for busy A-listers, and who makes sustainable fashion addictive, is also part of the club.

Le Millas co-founder, Cecilia Morelli Parikh, confirms that all three designers are personal favourites, with her first branded bag being a Balenciaga motorcycle bag. Her other partner, Julie Leymarie, according to a statement on the storeas blog, is a fan of a?Stellaas easy pieces, particularly the pants.a Leymarie splits time between Mumbai and Marrakech, and is stimulated by the chaos and energy of the former. McCartney, incidentally, used to retail at Bangaloreas UB City earlier, so if you fancy her sleek silhouettes and British cool, find them at Le Millas online store, where Wangas techno couture and classic Giant 12 bags will also be available. As for Van Noten, the designer from Antwerp, who names India as an inspiration and who has worked with embroiderers here since 1987, expect his trademark styles. Credited for the skirt over trousers trend, his incredibly textured clothes find pride of place at the store.

    From the catalogue
The seasonas collection celebrates retro glam, so you will find Balenciagaas blue-green Cristobal dress and tailored pants, body-skimming dresses and laser cut bags, and metallic and ruffle skirts from Dries Van Noten. More metallic comes in the form of Isabel Marantas dresses and gold leather jacket. And for a serving of crisp blue, choose from McCartney or the sharp and sensual Cushnie et Ochs, another new entrant. Thereas more to come, as the website promises Alexander McQueen by the end of the year. Pricing from `80,000 for the new brands, though you could get a Balenciaga Giant wallet for Rs. 39,100.
