Amidst the wedding season flurry, do catch the mega lifestyle and trousseau exhibition from Vimonisha. There are 55 different designers from across the country—from Change!, Sparsh and Shibhori apparel to Tint, Exquisite, and Haute for lifestyle products. “It is no mean task getting them together on a single platform. And I specifically look for those that I think will work in Chennai,” says Monisha Gidwani, the organiser. Wedding shoppers can be relieved as everything you need will be available under one roof. This Hyderabad-based design-er,who is showcasing her collection in Chennai for the first time, is bringing the same collection as seen at the Lakme Fashion Week, Autumn/Winter 2013 in Mumbai.“Called the Tantrum Bride it is a collection for the fun bride,” Reddy says. It includes a selection of saris, anarkalis, lehengas and lehenga saris. Floral motifs are used and the colours “blush pinks, calming blues, greens and perky oranges,” she says. Fabrics used are chanderi, net and silks. Priced from Rs15,000 to Rs75,000.
Just Jewels by Kolkata-based designer Shikha Jhunjhunwala specialises in contemporary silver jewellery with Swarovski crystals and semi-precious stones. She is bringing down her party collection where “you will see colours like black, champagne yellow, white and red,” she says. Priced from Rs1,500 to Rs60,000
Garlic and Onion
For handloom saris in contemporary designs and colours, head to the stall put up by this Delhi-based store. Conceptualised by designer duo Kshitij and Aditi, it has saris with both modern and traditional designs in cottons, silks and jute. They plan to showcase the ‘Incognito’ collection “which uses checks with zari,” says Kshitij, an NIFT graduate.
