Dim sum rules the menu at Yauatcha with the new offer all through the week
As AN Oriental who loves dim sums, I was delighted when Yauatcha, the Michelin-starred restaurant introduced Yum Cha – a chance to tuck into their delicious dumplings all afternoon and wash them down with copious cups of tea at a fixed price. Seeing as there are 24 varieties of dim sum and four types of speciality teas to choose from, we went with huge appetites and big expectations. Dim sum loosely translates to “ordering from the heart” and tucking into these delectable bite-sized pieces allowed us ample room for a variety of flavours and textures.
There were two things that stood out on the vegetarian menu: the crystal veg and the truffle edamame dumplings, which were excellent. Non-vegetarians can have a field day with the juicy prawn and enoki dumplings, the fluffy chicken char sui buns and the chicken and prawn shi mai. Other offerings include hargau, pork and prawn shumai, prawn-chive dumplings and the best-seller – crispy cheung fun.
Also included in this offer are the pan-fried and baked dumplings — turnip cake, baked veg puff, prawn toast, duck roll, almond prawn and baked chicken puff. We rounded off our afternoon tea with macaroons (one per head), made in-house in Yauatcha’s large dessert kitchen. They even have a tea bartender to help you blend the perfect tea.
